token of memory

dear mom, i didn't get the first rank, but i really wanted that walkman. i worked really hard to get it, and even though i don't deserve it, i felt that it has to be mine. it broke my heart a little when you gave me an older model and gave lil' sis the latest one without much effort on her part. i knew i was the one to set up the rule, but i want to constantly live up to my words. i want to constantly prove to you that i could and gladly would work hard to achieve whatever i want in life. it broke my heart a lot when you told me that you would've given it to me anyway if i would just ask. and you knew that the ten year old me had too much pride to admit my defeat.

dear mom, it was raining like crazy and we had been walking for hours. you were still unconvinced about getting that bag you saw earlier that day, and i told you repeatedly to either get it or get yourself over it. i kept complaining because i was so tired, it was dark, you were forever indecisive, and the store was about to close. in the end we went out of ysl that one night in rome with the first bag that you ever handed down to me.

dear mom, yesterday somebody broke my car window. that person took nothing else but the bag, which was empty. i apologized to you repeatedly, and it broke my heart a little when you didn't get angry. it broke my heart a lot when i was the only one that's mad at myself and at the situation. you kept on asking me if i was okay, and truth is, i was not. but you knew that i still have too much pride in me to admit that too.

dear mom, i couldn't shed the thoughts of always making you worry and having you invest so much money on me off my mind. i don't know if i was purely unlucky or if God's trying to teach me something. but this incident didn't make me go easier on myself. instead it taught me to push myself even harder, and to let Him see that i am worthy to be your daughter. since i still have a little bit of pride in me, i promised myself to take you to that ysl store in rome when it rains someday, and make sure that you don't open your wallet and walk empty- handed from the store. the incident opened my eyes to something that the ten years old me failed to see; that you love me despite of anything, despite of everything, and that you always will. now that i think about it, my sister might receive the better walkman, and that burglar might have stolen a pretty bag, but i was the one chosen by God to be the daughter of a woman as wonderful as you are.

...and if ever that burglar's reading this:
bitch.

Yeah sometimes its just that we are not grateful enough with whatever we get!
I used to feel uneasy when my sis could buy so many pairs of shoes while I couldn't but eventually I realized my sis had been working so hard on her studies while I was just sitting back and did nothing!

and I am sorry for the loss of your bag!

oh shoot, :( i know love. mom's love is irreplaceable and unconditional. she wouldn't care about how much the burglar take, as long as you're safe and sound.

she just can't have herself regretting the moment she can't be there for you when you're panicking and stressed out. you must be really upset, but your mum did the right thing. she loves you so much, we all have those times where we fight against our moms and make her cries badly. but there are some times where she makes us regret whatever bad things we've done to her. her love is just too pure and true to be true.

i'm hereby to stand by you, cheering you up, and i'm glad you're fine and the bag was empty. note this incident as some lesson, so maybe small things like don't leave any valuables inside the car when you're away. ;)

cheer up love, and i love your outfit! black is just you! part of you, and will never fade with you ;) loving your lv heels tho, classic! ;)

hope you have a good one. love you and miss you. sadly you won't be there when i got my ass there in LA! i wish i could spend sometime with you there, but oh well, gonna meet you here in indo! ;) wait up and we'll just catch up! like old times

xx

tal the 3rd picture is really cute !! should put it on your profile pictures :P

if i were your mom, i would be shedding my tears as I read this post.. your words are very touching.. A mom's love is one of those unconditional ones you can never get other than from the Lord himself..

sometimes our parents does things to us that we don't understand at the time.. but when we do become a mother, we realize that our parents just want the best for us.. I can totally relate to your walkman thing even though I don't have any siblings.. I compared myself to my friends at the time..

i hope you're feeling better by now :) and countdown till you visit jakarta begins from now on :) :) 2 more months to go dear !

This is heart-breaking, in a poetic way. I think we are lucky people since not everyone is loved by their own mom (or even family), and despite of all the bad lucks, you know what to be grateful for.
Call it enlightenment. Lucky bitches we're all. And wearing slim skirt with drapery makes you looked taller! I ALWAYS looked ugly in any skirt or dresses that is not a-lined. <3

beyoutiful dress!

This summer, my makeup pallet was stolen at an event I ORGANIZED AND HELD for girls in the inner city. And my pallette was not cheap!!! I though- after ALL the work and time i put in for these girls- one would have the audacity to steal form me?! well... I just need to remind myself: "I hope it does them good, taking that from me. And if they stole it- they are already in a worse place than me. i'll just pray for that person."

:)
I'm a new follower btw- I hope you can stop by my page. I do fashion and social injustice :) I hope you can follow me too. I just put up one of my new designs.
